Description

This is a terrace of five houses located on Blackwall Reach in Great Yarmouth. The terrace, numbered 9 to 13, was built in 1730 and has been altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. The houses are constructed of rendered and colourwashed brick, with rusticated detailing to the ground floor, and have pantile roofs. They are arranged over two storeys with a dormer attic, although the dormers themselves are all from the late 20th century. The terrace has a five-window range to the front. Each house originally had a door with a flanking window and a first-floor window. A platband runs along the first floor. The doors are from the late 20th century. Number 9 retains two 19th-century 2/2 horned sash windows, while number 10 has 20th-century casement windows. Number 11 features 8/12 recessed unhorned sash windows. Number 12 has 20th-century casement windows, and number 13 was largely rebuilt in the 20th century with contemporary features. The gabled roof is punctuated by five 20th-century dormers of various types and sizes, and two ridge stacks remain. The north return displays a datestone inscribed "H over R E 1730". The interior of the properties has not been inspected.
