Description
Dix's Farmhouse is an 18th-century farmhouse made of colourwashed brick with a pantile roof. It has two storeys and a single-storey extension to the west. The front has three windows, a central six-panel door, and a porch with pilasters that support a plain frieze and a projecting cornice on extended modillions. The ground floor features wide 19th-century sash windows with glazing bars, while the outer first-floor sash windows with glazing bars are from the 18th century. The central first-floor sash window with glazing bars is from the 19th century. There is a brick plinth, evidence of former windows in the brickwork, and moulded brick eaves. The house has internal gable stacks, with the one to the west extended externally. The single-storey wing has a 19th-century casement window with glazing bars on the left and a 20th-century casement window on the right. Inside, there is a large open brick fireplace with a bressumer in the living room and chamfered principal ceiling beams. Attached to the house on the south is a three-bay, two-storey barn and granary with a staggered butt purlin roof.
