Description
Malthouse Farmhouse is a farm house dating from the 16th or 17th century, which was altered and extended in the late 18th century. It is constructed of red brick and features a red and black pantiled roof. The building has two storeys and includes a continuous two-storey outshut at the rear. The facade displays four windows, a brick plinth, and brick corbelled eaves. There is a brick diaper pattern on the south and east gable walls. The entrance door is off centre, and there is a blocked door to the east. The windows are late 19th century mullion and transom casement types. The eastern parapet gable has a moulded brick kneeler to the south, indicating the original eaves line. The west gable wall, which has a parapet gable, is rendered. There is an off centre axial stack and an eastern gable stack. Inside, there are open brick fireplaces with timber bressumers, as well as chamfered transverse and axial beams. The roof is a double framed structure from the 18th century.
