Description
Oulton Hall is a country house built in the 18th century and later. It features a stuccoed and painted brick exterior with a black-glazed pantile roof that is hipped at the rear. The building has two storeys and attics, arranged in a U-shaped plan with later infill at the back. The facade consists of seven bays with sash windows that have glazing bars and architraves. The central doorway is flanked by Tuscan pilasters and topped with an open pediment supported by brackets. The door itself is a two-leaf glazed design with raised and fielded lower panels, surrounded by a reeded and fluted architrave and a semicircular fanlight with decorative glazing bars. There are three attic dormers with cambered roofs, also featuring sash windows with glazing bars. The gables are parapeted and have internal gault brick chimney stacks. At the rear, there are lower two-storey, three-bay ranges that are hipped at the north-west corner. Inside, the house has an 18th-century staircase with two turned balusters per tread and carved tread ends.
