Description

Whitehouse and Whitehouse Cottage are a late 17th-century building with later additions, located on Cromer Road in Ayshham. The building is constructed of colour-washed brick with a pantiled and slated roof, the north side being hipped. It has a largely L-shaped plan and two storeys, with an attic in the south wing.

The south elevation features a moulded brick string course and corner pilasters with moulded capitals. The first floor has casements with segmental heads, while the ground floor has sash windows with glazing bars. There is a doorway with a segmental head, and two blocked openings are also present. A moulded brick drip mould sits above the attic window in the east gable. The attic casement has leaded lights. A later two-storey bay window, with sash windows and a hipped slate roof, has been added. A central chimney and a brick dentil eaves course are notable features. A 19th-century wing extends to the north.
