Description
The Congregational Chapel, built in 1840, is a brick structure topped with a black glazed pantile roof. It features remnants of a timber frame from 1625. The chapel is designed in a Tudor style, characterized by an embattled parapet, stepped gables, and polygonal angle turrets. It has a two-storey, five-bay front with two-light windows that have four-centred arch lights and drip moulds, all fitted with leaded panes. The central porch is adorned with a stepped gable and polygonal angle turrets, and similar windows are found on the other sides of the building. Inside, the chapel retains its complete furnishings from 1840, including a gallery on three sides supported by square chamfered posts, simple panelled box pews, and a pulpit on the fourth side, which features a Gothick balustrade.
