Description
Yeoman Cottage is a mid-17th century building that originally consisted of two cottages but is now one. It features a timber frame with rendered wattle and daub and brick infill, topped by a thatched roof. The cottage is one storey high with a dormer attic. There is a door on the right side, and a 20th-century pitched extension obscures a second door on the left. The front has three 20th-century casement windows, and there are two sloping dormers under the thatch, also with 20th-century casements. A ridge stack is positioned right of center, featuring two lozenge-shaped shafts on a square plinth. At the rear, there are two 20th-century pitched extensions and three sloping dormers, all details from the 20th century. Inside, the living room has a 17th-century fireplace with a bressummer, and the timber framing is intact. The bridging beam has a chamfer with tongue stops, and the joists also have chamfer stops. The sitting room is similar in style. The roof is enclosed in the 20th century, but tie beams and collars are still visible. An original cupboard door in the bedroom features butterfly hinges.
