Description
This is an outbuilding range dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, possibly designed by Sir John Soane. It is constructed of red brick, flint, and rendered clay lump, topped with a hipped pantile roof and featuring brick ridge and end stacks. The building is arranged in an L-shape and is single storey. It includes a range of six plank doors and two two-light casements that lead to two wash-houses, each with open fireplaces and coppers or sinks, as well as other outhouses, one of which is a stable. This outbuilding range forms a significant group with Lodge Cottage and is an unaltered example of a cottage outbuilding range made from clay lump, a material typical of Norfolk.
