Description
Hoe Hall is a house that features a 17th-century rear block and a main block built in 1845, as noted by a graffito on the northeast corner. The rear block has early 19th-century modifications. The main block is constructed of gault brick and has a slate roof, while the rear block is made of brick and flint with a pantile roof. The building is two storeys tall.
The main block has a symmetrical facade, which is flanked by giant angle pilasters with moulded stone impost blocks and bases. It includes five bays of sash windows with glazing bars set beneath skewback arches. The taller ground floor windows rise from ground level. The slightly advanced central bay features a porch supported by columns with channelled capitals, a simple entablature with guttae, and a projecting cornice. The front door is a two-leaf part-glazed design. The building has wide eaves and a hipped roof.
The rear block displays 17th-century flint and brick gable ends, which were heightened and re-faced in the early 19th century. The main section of the rear block is symmetrical, situated between plain giant pilasters, and has three bays of sash windows with glazing bars beneath skewback arches. One window has been replaced by a modern canted bay. The central panelled door has a modern pedimented doorcase. The north gable end is notable for its three 17th-century octagonal chimney shafts.
Inside the main block, there is a dog-leg stair in an early 18th-century style, featuring shaped tread-ends and turned balusters with square knops, along with good plaster work. Hoe Hall has group value with the parish church and Hoe Hall Barn.
