Description
Cyprus House is a house, now divided into two with a shop, dating from around 1700 and later. It features a brick plinth with partly brick and rendered clay lump walls, all of which are colourwashed. The roof is plain tiled and the building has two storeys plus a dormer attic. The facade is symmetrical, with a pedimented doorcase and four 2-light cross casements on each floor. Above the timber eaves cornice, there is a gabled roof. The house has three shallow pitched dormers with casements, likely from the mid-18th century. The stepped gables on the north and south sides have coping tiles, and the internal gable stacks have been rebuilt. Cross wings have been added to the rear, with the southern wing dating from the 18th century featuring tumbling in the rear gable, and the northern wing from the 19th century. There is a 20th-century shop at the northeast corner extending down the return. The main staircase remains intact in the interior.
