Description

The Doric Restaurant is a house that has been converted into a restaurant, dating from the late 18th century and later. It features colourwashed brick and a slate roof. The symmetrical facade has three bays and rises three storeys high. The central door is set beneath a pediment and is supported by engaged Roman Doric columns. There are two late 20th century windows on the ground floor, while the first floor has three sash windows with glazing bars, each adorned with late 19th century moulded hoods on labels. The second floor has similar, but smaller, windows. The building is topped with a timber eaves cornice, and giant order pilasters at either end of the facade terminate in block capitals. The roof is hipped.
