Description
Mayfield Farmhouse is a mid-16th century farmhouse with an early 19th century front range. The rear portion is timber-framed, while the front is brick. The roof is covered in black glazed pantiles. The two-storey facade features a central fluted doorcase, now behind a 20th-century trellis porch. There is one sash window to the left and right of the door, and three to the first floor, all with glazing bars and gauged skewback arches. The roof has overhanging eaves and is hipped. The original timber-framed rear range is now incorporated into a unified block. A gabled roof with an off-centre ridge stack rises from the two-storey structure, which includes scattered 19th and 20th century casement windows. A section of the north gable wall was rebuilt in 1941. The dining room at the rear retains a 16th-century spine beam with hollow and roll mouldings, including triple rolls at the base, along with joists that have sunk rolls.
