Description
Nos. 80-81 on Quidenham Road are weaver's cottages dating from the mid 17th century, which were altered for industrial use in the early 18th century. The cottages are timber framed with rendered wattle and daub infill, and they have undergone brick and breeze block alterations in 1983. The roof is pantiled and the building stands at 2½ storeys.
On the ground floor, there are two doors and two late 18th century casement windows, all situated under drip shelves. The first floor features two casement windows, while the top floor has three 18th century sliding casements under the eaves, all with intact glazing bars. The roof is gabled, with two partly rebuilt stacks; it has a shallow slope at the front and a steeper slope at the rear. The north gable has brickwork and fenestration from 1983. The timber frame is incomplete, with the first floors featuring heavy scantling. Additionally, there is a blocked crude three-light mullion window in the attic of the north gable.
