Description

Tudor Cottage is a late 16th-century cottage, with later alterations, located in Garveston, Reymerston. It is built with a rendered timber frame and has concrete tile roofs. The house originally consisted of three rooms, with a gable-end stack and entrances positioned off-centre, leading to a small passage area. The cottage has one and a half storeys. The south facade features modern windows and a porch. A stack originally existed on the east side, later supplemented by a stack on the west side. Extensions to the sides and rear are not considered to be of architectural significance. Inside, the main hall comprises two bays with bridging floor joists supported by shaped brackets. There is evidence of original service entrances and a former partition wall that divided a pantry or buttery to the west. The original roof structure includes clasped purlins and wind bracing.
