Description
The barn located 305 metres south of Godwick Hall is a former house associated with the now-demolished hall, likely built around 1576. It is constructed of brick in English bond and features a roof made of shingle on the west side and pantiles. Originally, the building had two storeys with an attic. The front facade displays remnants of seven symmetrically arranged three-light brick chamfered mullion and transom windows, each topped with pediments. There is one original blocked doorway with a pediment at the northern end of the facade, along with several later openings. The rear facade is obscured by a corrugated asbestos barn. The north gable end retains parts of a window pediment, and the 18th-century gables show signs of tumbling-in. The roof, likely original, consists of alternating hammerbeam and queen strut trusses that are arch-braced, along with three sets of butt purlins, collars, and wind bracing per pitch. Some partitions and floor joists from the original structure still survive.
