Description

Hall Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates mainly from the 18th century, with an earlier gable-end. It is constructed of brick and features black pantile roofs. The building has a double pile plan with a later rear extension and stands two storeys tall with an attic. The north gable-end, which is either 16th or 17th century, is made of small bricks. The early 18th-century fabric likely replaces a timber frame. The facade has six bays, although the southernmost bay is blocked. The ground floor has modern plate glass sash windows set beneath skewback arches. There is a modern porch and front door, a plain platband, and a moulded brick cornice. The gable-end has stacks, while the rear extension, built around 1800, features three first-floor sash windows with glazing bars, also beneath skewback arches with keystones and shaped soffits. It has a sawtooth cornice, one axial stack, and one stack on the rear wall.

Inside, the farmhouse boasts a fine 18th-century interior, with several rooms featuring complete raised and fielded panelling, and one coved recess with a ribbed semidome. The half-turn stair has one corner landing and a main landing on two sides, with turned attenuated vase balusters on a closed string, a swept wide handrail, and dado. There is also a fine Regency fire grate of the duck's nest type, characterized by converging flutes. The principal pile has a butt-purlin roof with collars and wind-bracing.
