Description

Home Farm House is a farmhouse dated 1773 on the north gable, but it incorporates an earlier house from around 1600. It is constructed of red brick and flint, topped with a steeply pitched roof made of French pantiles. The building has two storeys and a part cellar, featuring a T-shaped plan.

The facade facing west has a flint and brick plinth, with an advanced central bay made of flint dressed with red brick, marking the gable of the earlier house. There are three widely spaced windows on the ground floor, consisting of three three-light casements, two of which have segmental heads, while one has a gauged brick arch. The first floor contains three two-light casements and three blind openings. The off-centre doorway in the advanced bay has a segmental head and features a four-panelled door beneath a plain tiled canopy supported by brackets. The gables are parapeted with tumbling-in, and the southern gable incorporates an earlier gable-line. Internal gable stacks are present.

To the east, there is a two-storey wing with two and three-light casements, some of which are from the 20th century, and openings with segmental heads. A chimney stack is located on the ridge line, with an internal stack at the east gable. There is also a lower one-and-a-half storey service range to the east, which has a steeply pitched roof and a parapeted gable with tumbling-in, along with a chimney stack on the north side. A pantiled catslide extension on the north side includes an entrance door.

Inside, the east range features tie and bridging beams with barred stops and joists that have stepped run-out chamfer stops.
