Description
Nos. 28 and 29 on The Green are a pair of semi-detached estate cottages built in the early 19th century. They are constructed from gault brick and topped with a black pantile roof. The cottages feature a symmetrical facade with two boarded doors and two 2-light windows, all set beneath red brick skewback arches with cambered soffits on the ground floor. In the center bay of the ground floor, there are also a pair of small single light windows with horizontal glazing bars. The other windows are made of cast iron and contain small lozenge panes. On the first floor, there are three 3-light windows with metal casements, some of which still have leaded glazing. The cottages have a dentil cornice, gable-end stacks, and gables with tumbling in. At the rear, there is a continuous outshut beneath a catslide roof. These cottages are a particularly well-preserved example of the many similar estate cottages found around The Green.
