Description
The gateway and walls to Garboldisham Manor were built between 1869 and 1873 by G.G. Scott (Junior). They are constructed from red and gault brick. The gateway features square section gate piers with central pilasters and stone rustication that rise to a double cornice made of moulded brick. At the top of the piers are stone obelisks on a cruciform base, supported by scrolls. Each pier is flanked by a round arched pedestrian gateway set within a square surround. The double gates are made of timber with fielded panels below the middle rails and egg and dart moulding. The shutting stiles have ball and steeple finials, and the top rails are curved and ramped to the hanging stile. Above the middle rail, there are wrought iron railings, and the pedestrian gates are similar in design. The walls extend to the right and left, featuring brick piers, raised gault brick panels, a saw-toothed eaves cornice, and coping tiles.
