Description
These are two dwellings, dating to the late medieval period, with construction in the 16th century and subsequent alterations. The buildings are timber-framed and rendered, with thatched roofs. They are arranged in an L-shape, comprising a late medieval block facing the street and a 16th-century addition to the rear. The west facade has two sash windows with glazing bars, plus one smaller window on the ground floor with glazing bars. The first floor has one three-light window and one two-light window, both with metal casements. An off-centre doorway is sheltered by a glazed and boarded gabled porch. The street-facing facade has a single sash window with glazing bars, likely indicating a staircase hall, within the western bay. The remainder of the street-facing block is two storeys high, with a raised and fielded panel door and four 19th-century two-light casement windows. A brick stack is visible at the gable end, dating to the 18th century. The original street frontage may have consisted of three equal-sized cells, thought to represent former almshouses, with the westernmost cell now belonging to the rear addition.
