Description
Bury's Hall is a house that dates back to the 16th century, with alterations made in the 18th century, late 19th century, and 20th century. It is constructed of colourwashed brick and features black and red pantile roofs. The building has a continuous outshut at the rear, which includes an off-centre staircase tower, and various single-storey additions can be found at the back. The house has two storeys with an attic and a facade that consists of five bays of sash windows with glazing bars on the first floor. On the ground floor, there are two 19th-century three-light mullion and transom windows, two modern two-light casement windows with glazing bars, and a modern central porch. The rear wall displays irregular fenestration, mostly from the 20th century, but there is one surviving two-light window with a metal casement and leaded glazing in the staircase tower. The roof features two flat-roofed dormer windows, and there are two stacks on the rear wall of the main block, along with external stacks on the gable ends, all topped with very tall late 19th-century octagonal shafts in a 'Tudor' style. The north gable end includes a lean-to garderobe outshut, while the staircase outshut has a hipped roof. The rear also showcases shaped eave sprockets, and there are single-storey service additions along with a modern conservatory on the south gable end.
