Description
Church Farmhouse is a late 16th-century farmhouse that features a timber frame with rendered wattle and daub infill and a thatched roof. The building has two storeys and an attic. The entrance door is located to the left of centre, set in a moulded doorcase beneath a flat fluted engaged pediment. To the right of the door, there are two 4-light 18th-century cross casements, also under similar pediments, with restored leaded glass. To the left, there is a 3-light ovolo mullioned window. The first floor has four 4-light 18th-century cross casements, which are also leaded. The gabled roof features rebuilt quadruple flues on a square plinth. There is a pantiled gabled extension on the east side, which has a drip shelf and a blocked louvred attic window. This extension includes similar 18th-century casements as seen on the facade.
The rear elevation has a two-storey stair turret beneath a low-pitched gabled roof. The upper window and four facade windows match those on the front. Inside, the close studded framing has been largely restored. The interior features chamfered and tongue-stopped bridging beams, and there is a winder staircase by the stack. The roof consists of tie beams, diminished principals, and collars that support clasped purlins, with straight windbracing.
