Description
The Church of St Margaret is a parish church that dates from the medieval period and later. It is constructed of flint with ashlar and some brick dressings, topped with a corrugated tile roof. The church features a low round western tower, likely from the 12th century, which has three post-medieval, brick-dressed, rectangular bell-openings. The aisleless nave has flint western quoins and a post-medieval east wall that shows signs of tumbling-in.
The south doorway is Norman and consists of two orders, with the outer order being chevron moulded on colonnettes that have cushion capitals and bases. There is also a contemporary blocked semicircular headed north doorway. The nave includes two late-medieval three-light windows with rectangular heads. Additionally, the south porch, dating from the 15th century, is adorned with carved floral motifs on the entrance arch.
