Description

House. Built in the early 16th century, this is a Wealden frame house with a double-fronted design, formerly situated on a moated site. It was extended westward and northward in the 18th century. The house is two storeys high and has a red tile roof. It features exposed heavy studs, double-thick in the centre, and around 1910 brick infill to the ground floor, with roughcast infill to the jettied upper floor. Curved braces are also visible. There are two flush sash windows. Internally, the house has moulded transverse and axial floor beams. The early 18th-century western extension is constructed in painted brick, with a gable-end stack and a coved plaster cornice, along with a floor band and one flush sash window. A weatherboarded northern extension runs along the entire range.
