Description

The Parish Church of St John, originally a small church dating from around 1200, has undergone significant alterations in 1811 and restoration between 1874 and 1876. A large extension was added between 1960 and 1962 by John Glanfield. The exterior is rendered, featuring a lady chapel and a crenellated tower from around 1530. The windows are designed with two lights and rectangular dripmoulds. Inside, the chancel retains a plain arch from circa 1200, alongside a 13th-century piscina. The north aisle displays geometrical blank tracery from around 1290, likely remnants of a memorial. There are also remains of a rood screen dating from around 1540 and notable memorial brasses from the 15th and 16th centuries.
