Description
Mill Cottage is probably from the early 18th century, with part of it rebuilt in the early 20th century. Originally a mill and the millers' house, it is now a dwelling. The building has two storeys and is constructed of red and blue bricks with a tiled roof. It features four windows, one of which is blocked, while the others are casements with two and three lights. The ground floor has three casement windows of three lights, each with segmental heads, and there is a modern door. To the left, the mill stream still flows beneath a flat archway, with an early 20th-century canted oriel window above. The original wheel and other machinery have been removed. To the left of the main section, there is one window below a dormer, and the remaining mill premises were converted into living accommodation in the early 20th century; this section is slightly taller and has a canted oriel window above two windows. Some original ceiling beams with chamfer remain in the right-hand section. A mill has existed on this site since the time of the Domesday Book.
