Description

The bootscraper located immediately northwest of The Orchard was designed by C.F.A. Voysey for his own use between 1899 and 1900. This wrought-iron piece is painted green and is styled in the Arts and Crafts tradition. Its shape suggests a long-necked animal, featuring four legs that serve as the scraper's back. There is a tall rod on one side topped with a bud finial, which is intended to be held by the user.
