Description
29-33 Church Street is a house that has been converted into offices. It dates from the late 15th century or early 16th century and was heated in the 17th century. The building features 18th and 19th century brick refronting, with a timber frame and a red brick front, topped by a tiled roof. It is arranged in three bays, with the two bays on the left originally forming an open hall. The structure has one storey and an attic, with a rendered plinth and 20th century entrances and ground floor windows. There is a plat band, and the 19th century sash windows are set in reveals with cambered heads, aligned with the three gables of the attic. A rendered course runs along the eaves. The right gable is weatherboarded and colourwashed below, with exposed plates and purlins.
At the rear, there is a continuous outshut featuring two gabled dormers, along with a later flat-roofed addition. A tall 19th century block is located at the rear of No. 29.
Inside, there is a 17th century fireplace with a timber lintel set diagonally between the two right bays. The interior also includes cambered tie beams with queen struts that support collars clasping purlins, along with curved wind braces.
