Description
The Grange is a large coaching inn from the early 18th century and earlier, which has since been used as a school and is now the Divisional Education Office. It features a red brick exterior and a tiled hipped roof with a corbelled cornice. The building is two storeys high and has twelve sash windows with glazing bars set in nearly flush frames, all positioned under cantered arches. A central canted bay extends full height and includes three windows topped by a hipped roof. There is a six-fielded panelled door located beneath a Doric porch, and a left central carriage arch. A taller wing extends from the south end of the building. The Grange is mentioned in Pews's Diaries and is part of a group with No 3A and Nos 3 to 11 (odd).
