Description
St Stephen's House is an earlier 18th-century building located on Watling Street. It originally comprised two storeys and an attic, with a five-window facade, and includes a two-storey, single-window extension set back on the right. The building is constructed of red brick and features a parapet. It has a high-pitched, hipped tiled roof with dormers. The sash windows are set within flush, box frames, with gauged brick arches above. A later 18th-century doorcase is present, featuring attached Tuscan columns supporting an open pediment with a modillion cornice. The round-arched, panelled reveal contains a six-panel door with a cornice head, which continues the cornice of the reveal and echoes the columns. A decorative fanlight is above the door.
