Description
Hinxworth House is a house that was formerly the rectory, dating from the mid-18th century, with a rainwater head at the back dated 1746. It was altered in the early 19th century. The building features roughcast brick walls and a plain tile roof, standing two storeys over a cellar. The three-window front has a central 18th-century half-glazed door, which is framed by a moulded architrave with panels and scrolls on either side, topped with a moulded cornice. There are five stone steps leading up to the door. Above the door is a single sash window with a moulded architrave, and on either side are 18th-century triple-hung sash windows. A 19th-century canted bay window is located at the front right. The gable ends have white brick stacks, and at the rear left, there is a two-storey canted sash bay with a dentilled cornice. A large 18th-century chequered brick stack is present on the flanking wall. The right return elevation displays two bays with hipped roofs.
