Description

This is an aisled barn built in 1787, as noted on the tie beam facing the central bay. It features a timber frame that is weatherboarded and has a slate roof. The barn consists of five bays, with the original entrance located in the central bay. There is a 20th-century entrance and two windows in the west gable end wall. The straight tie beams are made from re-used posts that have trenches for lap joints. The structure includes struts to clasped purlins and lightly jowled posts. The wall plates are also re-used and have mortices for close studding. Additionally, there is longitudinal and lateral bracing of the arcade plates to the posts and tie beams to the posts.
