Description
Nos 5 and 6 on Hitchin Hill Path are a pair of 18th-century buildings, noted for their architectural features. At the attic level, there is a flush panel inscribed with "1834, T. Field, Hitchen Hill." The buildings are constructed with red stretchers and mainly grey headers, topped with a Welsh slated roof that includes three box dormers. They are two storeys high with end attics and feature three sash windows with glazing bars set in reveals beneath flat arches. The entrance includes six-panel doors with dummy fanlights in round arched reveals, and there is a later gabled trellis porch added to No 6. These buildings are included for their group value, as they form a cohesive group with Nos 5 to 8 and the nearby Montserrat and Saint Elmo on London Road.
