Description
Caldecote Manor is a farmhouse that was once a manor house, built around 1500 and significantly altered in the 17th century. A large front extension was added around 1900. The original part of the building features a timber frame with plastered walls, and the ground floor is made of 18th-century red brick. The front range is constructed from white gault brick with red brick dressings, topped with a machine tile double-pitched roof. The building has two storeys, and the rear elevation displays slightly jettied gabled wings at each end. There are three glazing bar casements, four bays, and a one-bay extension from around 1900 on the right side. The front facade features three sash windows, with two gable ends and a sash window between them, adorned with cusped bargeboards.
Inside, the framing is not exposed, but there are two doors at the west end of the hall that reflect the original screen door design, and a staircase in the west bay that corresponds closely to the original staircase. The hall has a crown post roof. In the 17th century, the eastern wing was added, along with a chimney stack and an upper floor in the hall.
