Description

The Garden City Corporation Offices, built in 1913 by B Parker and R Unwin, are an office building designed in a classical style reminiscent of New England colonial architecture. This building is considered to have initiated the Neo-Georgian aesthetic in the town centre. The three-story structure features dormers and a symmetrical facade with slightly projecting end and central bays. The fenestration pattern is 1:4:1:4:1. The building is topped with a hipped, tiled roof, brick stacks, and a central wooden cupola containing a clock. The exterior is primarily brown brick with an eaves cornice and a second-floor sill string. The ground floor is rendered and incorporates Tuscan pilasters that support an entablature. An open loggia is located at the north end. The sash windows have gauged flat brick arches, exposed boxing, and glazing bars. A round-arched opening is present on the ground and first floors of the central bay.
