Description
Waltham Cottage is a stable cottage and outhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the 18th century and likely became a separate residence after the nearby Ickleford Manor House burned down in 1911. The building is constructed of brick with thin timber framing on the first floor and brick infill. There is a former outhouse extending to the west, featuring a brick base and a roughcast rear wall. The roofs are steep and covered with old red tiles, hipped to the taller cottage. The structure is two storeys high, consisting of two cells, and includes a small internal chimney at the entrance to the courtyard. A single-storey range extends to the west, facing south. The north side of the cottage has two windows on each floor, which are two-light casement windows. The entrance is located on the south side. Waltham Cottage is part of a picturesque courtyard group and is included for its group value.
