Description

The Turner Monument, located about 15 meters south of the Church of St. Mary in Therfield, is a tomb erected by Sir B. Turner, who died in 1784, in memory of his wife, Mrs. S. Turner, who died in 1782. The monument is made of ashlar blocks and features a square base that steps up to a moulded plinth. The sides are fielded slate panelled, with an inscription dedicated to Mrs. Turner and their children on the east side, an inscription for Sir B. Turner on the north side, and a dedicatory inscription on the south side. The monument is capped with moulding and has a pyramidal head, standing at approximately 2 meters in height.
