Description
Barclays Bank, located at 23 High Street, is a late 19th-century building designed in the Tudor style. It is constructed of red brick with stone dressings and features a tiled roof adorned with polygonal chimney stacks. The building has two storeys and attics, with a stone plinth and bands at the floor and sill levels. It includes multi-light stone mullioned lattice casement windows, some of which have stone transoms. On the left side, there is a two-storey canted oriel bay window, while a projecting gabled full-height bay is situated on the right. The central doorway is accessed by steps. This building is included for its group value, as it is part of a collection that includes Nos 7 to 13 (odd) and 17 to 25 (odd).
