Description
Cambridge House is a mid-18th century house located on Hitchin Street. The construction is stone-dressed red brick with a hipped roof covered in old tiles, concealed behind a parapet. The house is three storeys high and features a band at the second-floor level, a moulded cornice, and in-and-out quoins. There are five sash windows on each floor, set within reveals and featuring glazing bars and flat arches. The ground floor has a pair of canted bay windows on either side of the main doorway. The doorway itself has a six-panelled door, a fanlight with glazing bars, a panelled arched reveal, a surround of fluted Doric pilasters, an entablature, and a pediment with mutules. Numbers 2 to 16 (even) form a group.
