Description
The mausoleum located in the northwest corner of the churchyard at the Church of St. Martin is a small rectangular building, measuring approximately 4 meters by 3 meters and standing 4 meters tall at its apex. It is constructed entirely of shelly white limestone ashlar and features a steep, stone corbelled roof. The entrance is situated in the eastern gable end, which is inscribed with 'BARRINGTON/WHITE/A1906D' above the doorway.
The roof has a pitched design with ten weathered stone offsets that extend about 1 meter from the ground. The structure includes a chamfered plinth, corner and mid-pilasters, and three large projecting blocks in each of the two bays below the eaves. The rear of the mausoleum is plain ashlar, adorned with a small cross-shaped opening and two square-within-circle openings positioned high up.
The heavy portal serves as a narrower continuation of the roof, featuring grooved and chamfered eaves. At the top of the gable, there is a small Celtic cross, which is largely cut in relief. The central doorway has a recessed surround with a truncated pointed head and a cross-shaped vent at the top. The double doors are divided by moulded battens into small panels, each adorned with circular bosses at the intersections, and there are scale-vents in the upper part of the doors.
