Description
Elm Farm House is a house dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed of brick and has a slate roof. The house features a lobby entrance and is two storeys high with a four-window front. The entrance, located to the right of the centre, has a pilastered surround and a bracketed hood. The ground floor has 16-pane sash windows, while the first floor contains two-light timber casements with glazing bars set under cambered heads. There is a ridge stack over the entrance and a stack at the left end. The rear of the house has 19th and 20th-century extensions. Inside, the ground floor includes a stop-chamfered bridging beam and a double inglenook with timber lintels and brick ovens. On the first floor, there is a 17th-century carved stone chimney piece featuring a four-centred head, hollow chamfered jambs and lintel, along with carved initials and ornament, which is likely to have been repositioned.
