Description

The memorial cross located east of St Andrew's Church in Much Hadham was created in memory of Frederick Norman, who died in 1916, by the architect Henry Wilson. The cross stands about 3 metres high and features a stone oval shaft, with the lower part having eight facets and a floral motif at the transition point. It has an octagonal base and capital. The top of the cross is a large, circular, pierced stone that includes an inset bronze relief depicting a figure with outstretched arms set against a background of foliage and fruit. The base is stepped and includes an inscription in the Arts and Crafts style.
