Description
Palace Bothy (west) and Grooms Cottage (east) is a stable block that has been converted into two houses. Originally built in the 17th century, it served as stables for The Palace. The structure is made of red brick with some half-timbering at the rear and features an old tiled roof. It is designed in an L shape and has two storeys with dormers.
The west front showcases three gabled dormers, a floor band, and a ground floor that includes three cut brick hood moulds and two pairs of door pilasters with capitals and bases. There is one original door on the south side, accompanied by a later five-light fan. A blocked door on the north side retains the remains of a cut brick pediment above it. The windows have been replaced with modern sash windows and leaded casements.
The rear extension, known as Grooms Cottage, has a half-timbered upper floor on the south side and features a large bressummer in the center that indicates the former cart entrance. Both floors have three-light metal frame casements, and there are modern additions at the rear.
