Description
No 11 Church Green is a house that dates from the 17th century or earlier, with a northern wing added in the late 17th century. It features a timber frame on a brick sill, with parts painted and others covered in stucco. The eastern service bay is weatherboarded, while the rest of the building has a roughcast finish with a weatherboarded apron, except for the exposed framing on the gable of the northern wing and the fake timbering on the western gable facing the road. The house has a steep thatched roof and is designed in a T-plan, single-storey layout, facing north with a projecting parlour wing in the middle of the north side. There is a central red brick chimney, with a flue added in the 20th century for the formerly unheated parlour. The entrance features a boarded door on strap hinges and small casement flush windows. The building also has cusped and lobed bargeboards, clasped purlin roofs, and straight tension bracing in the northern wing. This is an unusual example of a single-storey thatched house.
