Description
This is a house located at 15 Church Green, built in the late 17th century and later renovated in the 19th century. It features a timber frame on a stucco plinth, with roughcast walls and a steep thatched roof. The house has two stories and a central chimney plan, facing west. At the northern end, there is a single-storey thatched outhouse that covers a capped-over well.
The entrance leads into the northern heated room, with a staircase located by the chimney and a service room at the northern end, which is accessed by one step. There is a narrow unheated service room at the southern end. The northern room is lit only from the rear and has a back door.
The house has three front windows on the first floor and two on the ground floor, with a boarded door next to the northern window. The windows are three-light flush casements. Inside, there are regular narrow studs, rafters, and some exposed joists. The roof is a clasped-purlin type, with unjowled posts, straight tension braces, and face-halved bladed scarf joints in the wallplate. The doors are made of planks with iron hinges, and the floors feature wide floorboards.
