Description

The Dell is a building that dates from the 18th century or earlier and has been remodelled. It features a crosswing on the east side, which may be from the 19th century. The structure has a timber frame with brick at the back of the crosswing facing the road, and the rear wall of the main range is weatherboarded. The roof is steep and covered with red pantiles, featuring a bellcast at the eaves and gabled at the west end. The crosswing has machine-made tiles.

On the south face, the building has two storeys with four windows, a plinth, and plaster that is lined to resemble ashlar. The first floor has 18th-century flush box sashes with moulded architraves and six-over-six panes. The ground floor and both floors of the rendered crosswing have 19th-century flush sashes with moulded architraves and eight-over-eight panes. The entrance features a central six-panel flush beaded door, with the top two panels glazed, set beneath a treillage porch with a hipped roof.

There is a large central chimney located nearer to the west end, along with a former gable stack next to the crosswing and a lateral rear stack adjacent to the crosswing. The east face of the crosswing has narrow flush box sashes with six-over-six panes and moulded architraves. Extending from the west gable is a one-and-a-half storey timber-framed weatherboarded building with a gabled pantile roof and a gable chimney. This interesting house is somewhat isolated due to a road embankment created in the 19th century.
