Description
Nos 13, 15, and 17 Cappell Lane, formerly known as the Prince of Wales Public House, is a block of four cottages that has been converted into two houses. The building dates from 1812, as indicated by a plaque, although it was altered to serve as a public house in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of grey brick and features two storeys, a low-pitched tiled roof, and overhanging eaves.
The right-hand side, comprising Nos 13 and 15, retains the original layout of a pair of cottages, each with two windows on the upper floor and one on the ground floor, with doors positioned between the lower windows. The ground floor of No 17 has been modified to include two larger sash windows flanking a central door. The windows have flush moulded frames set under flat gauged arches. There is a central blind recess with the date panel. The upper floor originally had Yorkshire sliding casements with small panes, which have been replaced by casements above and boxed sashes in Nos 13 and 15. The entrance features a panelled door in a moulded case, while the door of No 13 has been blocked.
