Description
39, 41, and 43 Cappell Lane is a terrace of three houses built in the early 19th century, with some minor alterations from the 20th century. The houses are constructed of yellow brick with stone dressings and rise to three stories, featuring a low pitched slate roof with overhanging eaves.
The layout is regular, with a narrower fronted double-pile design. Each house has one front window on each floor, with the door located on the left side and a gathered single chimney stack on the right. The front faces west onto the roadside, and the windows decrease in size from the ground floor to the top floor. The recessed sash windows have stone sills and York stone lintels shaped like flat arches. The ground floor windows have 8/8 panes, the first floor has 4/8 panes, and the top floor features 4/4 panes. There is a late 20th-century addition to the north of No. 43, which is not of interest.
This terrace retains its urban form and well-proportioned façade, and it has group value with the Parish Church of St. Andrew.
