Description
Farmhouse at Sharpes Farm is a mid-17th century house with a rear wing added around 1948 and an additional square block to the north constructed in 1952. The building is two storeys high, with a plastered exterior and red tile roofs. The front block, which faces south, is timber-framed and features plastered panelled pargetting with an arched motif. It has a half-hipped old red tile roof and a three-window front, although the central door has been replaced by a window. The windows are three-light casements that have been renewed. A large red brick chimney is centrally located, featuring three conjoined diagonal shafts above a rectangular base and aligned with the long axis of the house. The layout is a lobby entry two-unit house with a parlour on the east side. To the north of the chimney, there is a rectangular area of worn brick paving that likely indicates the site of a former rear stair-turret. Both ground floor rooms and the chamber above the parlour were originally heated. The parlour includes a wide fireplace with a stop-chamfered lintel. The rear wall plate has a face-halved bladed scarf joint near the chimney. On the first floor, the doors are plank doors with old iron hinges.
