Description
The summerhouse in the grounds of Hertford Regional College dates from the mid-18th century and was restored in the mid-1950s. It was built by John Scott in the ten-acre garden behind Amwell House. This single-storey structure has a timber frame resting on a brick plinth, with colourwashed pebbledash panels and cover pieces at the corners. A moulded wood cornice runs along the top. The central door, originally featuring a flat hood supported by cut brackets, is flanked by small circular windows. The roof is hipped and pyramidal, covered with old tiles and half-round ridge tiles over the hips, topped with a wooden finial.
